News : Suess Honored at Banquet

   The Rich Anderson Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award for 2012 is Jo Suess.  Jo took on the inaugural “Red, White, KaBoom.” When the Chamber received word in March last year that the community’s fireworks display would have to be led by the Chamber, Jo took on the challenge of starting many months late and still pulled off a great event.  Jo is again chairing Red White KaBoom this year!  She was also a key member of the Columbus Days Board and volunteered at the Girls State Golf Tournament.

   Other 2011-12 Finalists were Chris Nelson and Amy Blaser.  The Anderson Award is given to the Chamber’s outstanding volunteer from the past year.     

   The Chamber was proud to welcome NASA Astronaut Mike Fossum to the 2012 Annual Celebration of the Columbus Area Chamber.  Mike was also able to speak to local students and Boy Scouts during his day.  Mike's message to "not only dream the dream, but work for it," fit well with businesspeople and students alike.

   The Columbus Area Chamber was proud to honor members’ membership anniversaries.  75-year member Behlen Mfg. Co. was honored, along with 50-year members Gateway Services, Midwest Glass, and Dowd Industries.
